Halas Duo
Ein roher, akustischer Sound, gewürzt mit einem Hauch von Melancholie.
Musik zum Zuhören, Tanzen und Genießen.
Die Musik, die sie präsentieren, ist das Ergebnis von Begegnungen mit authentischen Musikern, einem kreativen Umgang mit Archivmaterialien und langjähriger Aufführungspraxis, gewürzt mit einer Prise Verrücktheit und einem Tropfen Melancholie.
Sie sind Mitglieder zahlreicher herausragender Folk-Gruppen (Bractwo Ubogich, Muzykanci, Ket Jo Barat, Kwartet Wiejski, Kapela Hałasów, Noiseband, Eastwind) und internationaler Kunst- und Theaterprojekte. Sie beschäftigen sich mit Prozessions- und Wirbeltänzen, den Traditionen wandernder Sänger und führen Workshops und Bildungsaktivitäten durch.
Zusammen mit ihren Kindern bilden sie das Familienorchester und -theater „Noiseband”. Seit vielen Jahren reisen sie mit der traditionellen Jurte (Projekt „Culture Nomads”) durch Europa und präsentieren die Ergebnisse ihrer Forschungen und Projekte, die sie in Zusammenarbeit mit Künstlern aus aller Welt durchgeführt haben.
Jacek Hałas hat in lebendigen Traditionen, Aufzeichnungen von Ethnografen und privaten Archiven nach Spuren von „Bettlerliedern” gesucht, um sie in seinen Konzerten kurzzeitig wieder zum Leben zu erwecken. Er spielt das traditionelle Wanderinstrument Drehleier. Außerdem spielt er Ethnojazz und improvisierte Musik, komponiert für Theater, Film und Tanz und inszeniert originelle Theateraufführungen und künstlerische Veranstaltungen.
Unsere Inspiration ist die traditionelle Kultur Polens und Osteuropas. Unsere Konzerte sind Reisen durch Zeit und Raum – auf den Spuren von Dorfmusikern und -sängern, Zigeunerlagern, Klezmer-Orchestern und Hirten – Nomaden der östlichen Grenzgebiete. Die Musik, die wir präsentieren, ist das Ergebnis von Begegnungen mit Dorfmusikern, einer kreativen Herangehensweise an Archivmaterialien und jahrelanger Aufführungspraxis – gewürzt mit einer Prise Verrücktheit und einem Hauch von Melancholie. Die Musik wird auf originalen traditionellen Instrumenten handgemacht: Akkordeon, Drehleier, Volkstrommeln, Gordon, Hirtenflöten und Maultrommeln.

The music they present is the result of meetings with authentic musicians, a creative approach to archival materials and many years of performance practice, seasoned with a pinch of madness and a drop of melancholy.
They are members of numerous outstanding folk groups (Bractwo Ubogich, Muzykanci, Ket Jo Barat, Kwartet Wiejski, Kapela Hałasów, Noiseband, Eastwind), and international artistic and theatrical projects. They engage in processional and whirling dance, the traditions of wandering singers, and conduct workshops and educational activities.
With their children, they form the “Noiseband” Family Orchestra and Theatre. For many years, they have traveled across Europe with the traditional Yurt (Culture Nomads project), presenting the results of their research and projects carried out in collaboration with artists from around the world.

Jacek Hałas has been searching for traces of ‘beggars’ songs in living traditions, ethnographers’ records, and home archives – only to briefly bring them back to life in his concerts. He practices playing the traditional wandering instrument – ​​the hurdy-gurdy. He also plays ethnojazz and improvised music, composes for theater, film, and dance, and directs original theater performances and artistic events.

Our area of ​ inspiration is the traditional culture of Poland and Eastern Europe. Our concerts are journeys through time and space – following in the footsteps of village musicians & singers, Gypsy camps, Klezmer orchestras, and Shepherds – nomads of the eastern frontiers. The music we present is the result of encounters with village musicians, a creative approach to archival materials, and years of performance practice – seasoned with a pinch of madness and a touch of melancholy. The music is hand-made on original traditional instruments: accordion, hurdy-gurdy, folk drums, Gordon, shepherd’s flutes, and jew’s harps.
