About sliding scales (not from us, but we like the explanation)

For a sliding scale to work, it is based on three important principles: Honesty, respect for complexity and responsibility. We don’t ask for proof of income – we trust you to be honest. Instructorsdeserve to be paid fairly, and participants deserve instruction that takes into account different economic realities and privileges.

The maximum price reflects the actual value of the workshop and ensures that the instructor’s needs are covered. So if you are able to pay for “wants” and don’t have to worry about necessities, you have an economic privilege and therefore more influence on the community. This price is for you.

The middle price is for those who can cover their basic needs but have little or no income. It may be a sacrifice for this group, but it is not an extreme burden.

The lowest price is for those who really have to struggle to secure their basic needs. Payment for this course would represent a noticeable hardship here.

If the lowest price is still an obstacle for you, you can pay less and don’t have to justify it. It is an orientation.

Of course, you are always welcome to pay more. In this way, you help us to enable even the less privileged participants to be there and learn!
