We believe that art, in dialog with culture and society, reflects its time, changes with it and within it. It is political. And it is not objective, because it is a human production, with all its contradictions. We want art and theater to be accessible to all and to go beyond the walls of the museum and the institutional theater; we want to relate them to the space we leave, to our neighborhoods, streets and gardens.
This year’s theme is “Loosing Ground” – metaphorically, but also practically, we are losing our land, our soil, our planet and our heritage. How can art, music and theater help to raise public awareness and inspire political action?
Within this framework, the Losing Ground Gallery provides space for regional, national and international artists to present and exhibit their works – paintings, sculptures, film, video art, visual art, photography and literary works – as well as for workshops and performances.
